    Spanish Football Monchi: The talisman

Sevilla sporting director Monchi has done it again, securing the club’s 10th trophy in his 18 years at the club, and the first since returning from Roma.
The first piece of silverware during Monchi’s reign came in 2006 after beating Middlesbrough in the Europa League final, a whopping six decades after they won their last cup, the Copa del Rey in 1947.
Since then, it has been trophy after trophy, including an impressive six Europa League final wins in six.
In fact, every time the team has made it to the quarter-finals, they have gone on to win the competition. An amazing feat itself.
Monchi has become the undisputed king of the Europa League and there hasn’t been many occasions in recent times where Sevilla are not entangled in a European affair.

Next year they will be performing on the big stage, the Champions League, and it won’t matter which team they come up against, they will be up for the fight.
It all has to start somewhere and for the Andalusian club, that was in Eindhoven in 2006, where the club acquired that trophy-winning feeling and the taste of sporting success.
They have gone on to win a further 10 pieces of silverware since Eindhoven and have featured in 19 finals, winning the European Super Cup, Copa del Rey and the Supercopa de Espana to add to their six marvellous Europa League titles along the way.
It will be final number 20 for Monchi‘s boys as they await their opponents in the European Super Cup final, which depending on the coronavirus pandemic will be played September 24.
With Monchi at the helm, there is no doubt that Sevilla will be a force to be reckoned with in the years to come, both domestically and on the continent.
